Swagger Like.....??

Okay so everyone nowadays seems to be so concerned with the term "swagger". It is always a debate on who has swag, who has more swag and so on and so on. There are so many MySpace and FaceBook names with the word "swagger" not to mention songs and albums that the entire entertainment industry is on a "swag" craze. [i.e. Swag Splashing--you're done]

Now, the "Paper Planes" single by M.I.A. was hot, not gonna lie and the sample that T.I. took and he, Jay-Z, Lil Wayne and Kanye spit over was hot.

But, before I start, lets think about this...not everyone can be on a song that is only 3 or so minutes long, right?

Of course not. So now, since only the afore mentioned brothers were on the track that T.I. released, of course it is only right to start some un-important "swag beef." It seems like dudes are really feeling "some kind of way" for not being asked to be on the original version.

So far, Diddy has released a hilarious track called "Swagger Life Puff" which, actually isn't really that far off being that Sean John Combs is one of the biggest "Swag Splashers" to date. Don't front--Diddy is FLY.

However, now there is a Part 2 being re-released by Jay-Z for the Blueprint 3 featuring Young Jeezy, Andre 3000 and Nas.

Jim Jones, Juelz Santana and Lil Wayne have teamed up to do a remix called "Jackin Swagger From Us". This song is supposed to be 'dissing' Jay-Z and T.I. (nice try Jimmy). And now there is some kind of beef between T.I. and Byrd Gang for not including One Eyed Capo on the original line-up. Sex. You're done. Jim Jones has swagg but his swagg is definitely not up to par with Kanye West, Lil Wayne, Jay-Z or T.I. And not to mention, but why is Lil Wayne even on this track AGAIN when he was on the original?!? Lil Wayne you have swag. We get it.

And you already know that the world of R&B is not too far behind this. So far your boy Trey Songz has released a track and also titled one of his mixtapes "Swagger Like Songz".

And LAST but not LEAST, Neyo, Chris Brown, T-Pain, Usher are releasing a "Swagger Like Us" the R&B edition.

What I don't understand is, what exactly is swagger? I've tried to Google it and look it up and none of the definitions seemed to make sense to me. Who do you think has the most swagg? Are there different types of swagg? Does everyone have swag in their own special way? Does NO ONE from the West Coast have swag?

All Grown Up

Rihanna your man is fine. Now, if you would have asked me if Chris Brown was cute when first came out with "Run It" ft. Juelz Santana circa 2001, the answer would have been "HELL NO!!". He had this whole teeny bopper/9th grade swag on lock. But now, this little boy done grew up over night. I first noticed it while watching the "Kiss Kiss" video a couple months ago and he has stepped his game up considerably since. Seeing him in the "Get Like Me" video and then hearing him on the "I Know What Them Girls" was enough to certify that boy as sexy. The boy is handsome and his singing is not half bad either. Nice to see he wifed up Rihanna real quick before she smutted her self out industry wise. We'll see how long this teenage love affair lasts cuz its a good look for both of them.

Ashanti and Nelly being an item is nothing new. However, everyone's favorite C-List couple seems to be stepping it up a notch. This second rate Beyonce and Jay-Z are cute together. And despite recent low record sales for the both of them, I kinda like seeing these two together...

I dont have the answer, but this morning as I was getting dressed, my iPod played this song while on shuffle. I haven't heard this song in a long time. Actually, this song got no play and most people haven't even heard of the song, let alone the artist, M'shell Ndegeocello. In fact, most people think India.Arie sings this.

This song was on the Love & Basketball soundtrack. Go listen. The lyrics are deep and you can hear the pain in her voice.

Dereon for Babies...

Well, Bey love the kids. So much so that she has launched a children's line modeled after her teen/young adult line Dereon. Particularly, I do not know how I feel about this one...

I love Beyonce and I know little girls do too, but I don't know if Dereon is quite appropriate for the little ones. I own some Dereon items and I'm not soo sure that I would want my 4 year old running around in the same thing I have on. And I'm positive the clothing is not risque or provocative, but whatever happened to Baby Gap and Osh Kosh B' Gosh? Gymboree anyone??

The ad is cute and so are the little girls, but I'm just skeptical of these Baby Beyonce's.

Beyonce--just have kids, don't design for them.

Sisqo...sit down.

Okay. Sisqo, Mark Andrews, whatever your name is, YOU'RE DONE. Now, we all know that Sisqo is an excellent singer/songwriter/performer, HOWEVER, I do NOT believe that he is that great of an artist or has had that much of a long career that he can release a solo "Best Of" album. Now, I do believe that Dru Hill is the best male group of the 90's and has had an illustrious line of hit singles ranging from "In My Bed" to "I Love You" so maybe a "Best Of Dru Hill" rather than just Sisqo. I mean, lets face it, did anyone really buy 'Unleash the Dragon'? And if you think the "Thong Song" and "Incomplete" are good enough to release an Greatest Hits album, then go out and purchase this one because those are the best tracks on the CD.

I would LOVE it if Dru Hill made a strong comeback and release an album to completely destroy Day 26 kinda like what they did in the early 90's to Jodeci.

Moral of the Story: Sisqo--stop power tripping, lay off the silver hair spray and call up Woody, Jazz, Scola(i guess...) and Nokio, sit down in the studio and make "Enter the Dru: Part 2". Thank you.

...just come and go like seasons...

this is the TRUTH.

"...Some people come in your life for a lifetime and some come for a season. You have to know which is which. And you are always going to mess up when you mix seasonal people up with lifetime expectations..."

I think this happens to alot of people. Seriously. It happens to all of us. We need to stop confusing seasonal people with lifetime expectations. After some reflections and thoughts I realized, there are so many seasonal people floating around here. And, I find myself, quite frankly getting upset or mad at people at my job, my school and even those who I call "friends". But I realized, those people are just SEASONAL. So why am I spending the time and energy to care about someone or something that is not going to matter in about 5 days, months or years??

Why are you getting so mad because so and so is not your man anymore? I know its alot harder than it sounds but get over it. It will hurt for a while, but move on. That person was in your life for just a season. Probably to teach you something, give you a lesson or for whatever purpose, everything happens for a reason. That seasonal person is probably reading this blog, still not even thinking about you.

Recently, my mother told me a few things I thought that I should share...

• don't love anyone more than you love yourself


• don't spend more time thinking, crying or being upset about a person more than they are


• don't allow yourself to be upset all day. Yes, it is okay to cry, but allow 5 minutes to be upset, get up then go on with the rest of your life. Sometimes the healing process is slow, but you'll get through it.

So, why are you getting so mad because so and so is not your friend anymore? Truth is, they probably never were to begin with. A close friend of mine (lol, no pun intended) always tells me that she doesn't categorize her friendships. She has no "close" friends or "best" friends, she just has friends. She doesn't consider everyone her friend, get it. So either you are her friend (i.e. me & Thickums) or you are just someone she "happens" to know. I feel her.

I was always told by my Aunt, that not everyone is your friend so pay close attention to who you surround yourself with. 'Tis true. Not everyone has your best interest at heart. Trust your instinct. If you feel like that person was not really your "friend" or that person was just a "seasonal" person, then odds are they were.

The sooner we all decipher who is seasonal and who is lifetime and stop confusing the two, the happier we will all be. Oh, and don't go around treating your lifetime people like they are seasonal. The people that truly love you and care about you can only take but so much garbage from you.

With that being said...go watch & take notes.

We Need a Resolution...

Almost everyone is familiar with the late Aaliyah's "We Need a Resolution". Now, when this song first came out, I couldn't fully relate...now I can. Soooo...after a long conversation with my significant other, I felt the need to YouTube this video.

While listening to this song I found me asking myself "am I supposed to change? are you supposed to change?"

Are we?

The answer is...yes.

Change happens. People change. No one is completely going to stay the same forever. So when you love someone, and they start to change...as long as its not a complete 180 and turn for the worse, don't be suprised. I mean, c'mon, did you actually expect them to be the SAME person they have always been? I know I have changed. I know he has changed. The problem isn't change-its the acceptance of change. Some people have a very hard time accepting that things will not be the same forever. Nothing lasts forever. Stop being so uptight, be forgiving and try to go back to the feeling that you felt when you first realized that you fell in love with that person. Love keeps no records of wrong (blog later to come) so sometimes you just have to take the L. You can't and should not fight over everything. Some things in life are just not that serious. Go cuddle with your boo before you have all this confusion, second guessing...no one should be hurt or ashamed...

Yes.

When you are in a relationship (2 years and 4 months to be exact...but who's counting??) for a long time, odds are you know exactly what buttons to push and what to do to get a response and/or rise out of your "boo". However, in the same token you know what to and what not to say.

All I'm saying is...I'm tired of arguing...

okay, so I want this phone. Recently, Verizon came out with the new BlackBerry Curve in pink. Now, I know that in February when the BlackBerry Pearl came out, I rushed to the store and bought that one. I do think it is a little ridiculous to get a new phone everytime you see one that you like, but I'm just saying it would be nice to have this one...
